Evaluation of demographic characteristics and comorbidities in patients with surgical site infection after gynecological surgeries, 2016-2020

Background: Surgical site infection (SSI) is one of most common infections in the hospital and complications patients admitted to surgical ward or outpatient surgery, which increases duration treatment, delays wound healing, use antibiotics, causes unnecessary pain severe cases death imposes a lot costs on health care system. The aim this study was determine demographic characteristics comorbidities with SSI.Methods: population included 92 who referred Alavi Ardabil for gynecological surgeries from June 2016 end April 2020. Their complete records were extracted through archive system carefully studied. A special checklist filled out each patient. information age, occupation, place residence, marriage, education, type surgery performed, presence absence underlying disease, cancer, smoking alcohol consumption history abdominal pelvic surgery. All data analyzed by statistical methods SPSS.Results: Most SSI between 30 40, rural, married housewives. Of all patients, 22.8% had diabetes 13% hypertension. caesarean section 85.9%, laparatomy 8.7% cystectomy/aforectomy 5.4% 18.5% previous surgery.Conclusions: Due high rate predisposing factors SSI, control these can play an important role preventing infection.
